Dry needling is a skilled intervention that uses a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, muscular, and connective tissues for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments.
why use ultrasound-guided dry needling?
The use of ultrasound-guided dry needling increases patient safety by visualizing and avoiding inadvertent intramuscular, intratendinous, peritoneal, or visceral placements and it minimizes the risk of bleeding and injury by avoiding neurovascular structures. Ultrasound-guidance also maximizes accurate needle placement in difficult and deep areas to perform dry needling.
